Computers in the workplace; Week 4

I chose the topic of Sales since I am a licensed insurance agent who spends most of my workday writing auto and home policies and working directly with clients while using my computer.  Everything I do daily for my job currently relies on computer-based systems. Our software platforms allow me to input client information and receive quotes based on our rates. CRM (Customer Relationship Management) systems help me follow up or find potential prospects, schedule renewals, and reviews, and keep my book of business organized and trackable. Most of the time, communication (outside of coming "in person" to the office) is done by using email, text, and electronic signatures, which makes things super convenient compared to having a massive physical paper trail for hundreds or thousands of clients.

Computer literacy isn't optional; it's critical. I must understand how to move between our systems smoothly, protect sensitive client data, and adapt quickly whenever software updates, tools, or applications change. Being comfortable with computers directly impacts how well I serve my clients and how smooth my day-to-day operations are.

Looking forward, I know that computer and AI integration will only grow stronger in our industry. AI has already started playing a role in how I receive prospects, primarily through lead generation with online quote requests. I expect AI to get even more advanced with time; I can see AI transforming the insurance quoting "world" with potentially predictive suggestions for coverage based on lifestyle data, or maybe even "smart" assistants that can answer simple client questions based on their policy contracts. At the same time, I focus on more complex situations or focus more on sales and prospecting. Additionally, hardware will continue to become faster and more reliable. They have already enabled people to get real-time coverage within minutes of entering their information. Cloud-based operating systems will make it easier to work securely from anywhere. Over time, faster networking and technology will make file sharing, video calls, and digital documentation more reliable than ever. Ultimately, embracing technology in the sales field isn't just about keeping up; it's about staying connected to clients in meaningful and efficient ways, and updated technology makes it so much easier to do that.
